May 2011 Part 1

Nate's Birthday.......

Corbin may have a future in cake decorating....watch out Duff!

Our snake.......
I was watering our newly planted garden one morning, and noticed something black laying on the deer netting between the garden and the fence.  I didn't think was praying frantically that it wasn't a snake.  I sprayed it with the hose to "just be sure" and sure enough, it started to wiggle and squirm (it couldn't get out of the net).  Great I thought....what do I do now?  Neighbors weren't home.....so I called Nate at work and told him I had a fun job that had to be taken care of immediately.  So here he is trying to figure out how to take care of the "issue".  It was really long, he held it up at one point and it was about as tall as Nate!  ewwwwwww!  Needless to say, our snake had a nice little meeting with our neighbors gun.  And to date, I have not found any more.....thank goodness!

Lainey's Field Day......

I didn't get to see her here, because I was helping at another station, but Nate said she was making basket after basket.....right in a row!

Nap time????...........

Reading Kick Off.......
Our school district started a summer reading kick off 3 years ago (the first year they did it, I was intering for my Master's and was excited to get to be a part of it, but Corbin came early and well, that was that).  I was VERY impressed with the program they had for all the kids this year.  They bussed all the K-5 students to the high school stadium and had a program for them.  They did an American Idol/Reading Rainbow type performance.  They had high school students dressed up as characters from various storybooks.  It was really neat (all except for that darn "bad wolf"......Corbin saw him right after we got there, and well, let's just say Corbin was pretty upset.....it was a pretty scary costume).  At the end of the day, at their own schools, they were given a reading bag full of books based on their grade level.  It really is a neat thing!

Mommy's Little Helper.......
Toby LOVES the vacuum....small or large, when I turn it on, he will RACE across the house and just start grunting, pointing, and grabbing.....he LOVES to vacuum!
