This year Lainey wanted to be a princess for Halloween. However, as time went on it was sometimes a ballerina, the most graceful ballerina, or a ballerina princess. So you can choose! She was VERY excited for Halloween and Trick-or-Treating this year. She looked forward to it for weeks.

Family Campout

We went camping August 3rd-5th for our 6th anniversary. Arkansas is a real outdoors state and there are places to camp, fish, hike, and hunt all around. We went out to White Oak Lake State Park, which is only about 20 minutes from our house. Let me tell you, we picked to WRONG time of year to go camping (in a tent) in south Arkansas. It felt like we were in a sauna for 3 days! It was fun to get away, but maybe we'll leave camping down this way for the spring and fall. Oh well, we had a good time. Lainey was so excited to sleep in the red tent and be outside. She loved to go down to the lake and throw rocks in it.

Bathroom Remodel 101

Well.....7 months after starting it, we're finally finished (well, almost...a new light fixture is waiting to be put up). Anyways, we started to remodel Lainey's bathroom on December 16th and finished just after July 4th. It all started with a "broken" toilet. The toilet was fairly new, but just wasn't working quite right. So we called our home warranty company and they sent a plumber out to fix it. He couldn't find what was causing the problem. However, in order for it to be covered and replaced by the home warranty, they pretty much gave us and him no choice but to break it open. Inside he found a black rubber washer. Well..the home warranty didn't cover "foreign objects" so, we were left with no toilet....even though they weren't going to replace it if we hadn't broken it open. Anyways, replacing the toilet lead to an almost total makeover. We figured since the toilet was out, we would take down the wall paper, repaint, and tile the floor. So there it began. The reason it took so long...well....I guess since it wasn't the master bathroom, we didn't miss not being able to use it. So it was very easy to say "I'll do that tomorrow. or I'll do it next weekend." But it's done! Here's what we had to do....

Remove four layers of wall paper

Texture the walls since the wall paper was attached directly to the dry wall

Pull up the layers of old linoleum

Strip the black paint off all the trim (which I'll never do again...I'll just pull the trim off and replace it)

Strip all the black paint off the cabinet doors and drawers

Replace the exhaust fan, repatch, retexture and paint the ceiling

Paint all the hardware (cabinet pulls, hinges)

Install new baseboards

Install tile floor

We're pretty proud of ourselves and glad that it is done! Lainey would walk by every day and say..."Daddy made a mess. He needs to pick it up!" So she is glad to have her ducky bathroom done!

I'm posting before (the black and red) pictures and the after pictures.

Wednesday the 18th was Lainey's first adventure with playing in the sprinklers. It came to be due to some spilled bubbles. While we were outside blowing bubbles, she spilled most of the bottle down her leg. I started to spray it off with the hose, but that darn bubble mixture just makes a bigger mess when you try to clean it off. So we decided to go ahead and let her have some fun getting cleaned off. She loved every moment of it! She's asked to do it again several times since.

Potty Time

Well, we've been working and working on the potty training thing. So far, it hasn't made much progress. We've made a sticker chart and Lainey gets a sticker each time she sits on the potty. She's been wanting princess slippers for quite some time, so that is what she worked for on her last chart. She got them on Monday and has been wearing them ever since!

Family Trip May 2007

In May we took a trip to Philadelphia and Virginia to see some of Nate's family. His parents are serving a mission in Philadelphia and his sister's family is in Woodbridge, VA which is near DC. We DROVE, and while it was great and we were able to see a lot of things, it was also LONG! We left May 8th and came home on the 19th. We drove over 3,000 miles! We traveled through 8 states along the way. It was a great trip! We got to: drive the Chesapeake Bay tunnel, ride on the Lewes Ferry, see lighthouses, get lost on the NJ turnpike, see downtown Philly, the DC temple, downtown DC, and Mount Vernon.

Easter 2007

Lainey on Easter Sunday 2007. This year she had a lot of fun with the whole Easter thing. She thought that getting a "pretty princess dress" was the best thing in the world. The Easter Bunny knocked on our door that day and left an Easter basket which she was just thrilled about. Then she got to go out in the yard and look for all the eggs. If she picked one up that had dirt on it, she would say "That one's dirty" and throw it back down!

Our neighbors have a pool and the wife is soooo excited for it to warm up so she can take Lainey swimming. Early last week, the weather was great...86 degrees. The pool even felt pretty nice. She suggested bringing Lainey over after nap time for a quick "dip of the feet" in the pool. She figured that she would get Lainey's used to the pool and let her play with her feet in there. Well, that didn't last long! Soon they were both full fledge in the pool splashing around and having a blast! The warm spell didn't last long. Two days later we had three days of cold weather with freezing temps at night! Lainey is just waiting for it to warm up again so she can go swimming!

Lainey's 2 Year Old Pictures

Here are some of Lainey's 2 year old pictures we had taken.

For some crazy reason, I think I need to be busier than I already am. So I am a distributor for Photomax (which also makes me a distributor for NuSkin and Pharmanex). I work semi-part-time in our home doing that. I figure that if I am going to take as many pictures as I do, and scrapbook them all, I may as well make some money along the way! It is a great company and I'm having fun, so I guess it is worth it!

Lainey Danielle

Lainey is two and just an absolute doll. She is really into "princesses" and loves Ariel, Belle, and 'Rella' (Cinderella). She is a girly girl and enjoys clothes and shopping! She loves to go to church (I think partly because she is usually the only one in nursery in our small branch and gets one-on-one attention) and to play with her friends! She enjoys "reading" and likes to get a book and sit in her chair and read it to herself over and over!

Our Home

We bought our first home in October 2006. We live on Memory's a neat little street where all the houses are somewhat "colonial". We enjoy having our own place to do things with and have been working on making it "our own."
